Knitting

My mom is a knitter. She is awesome and doesn't even have to think while doing it. Me, I have my tongue stuck out, concentrating like mad. Well, my mom got my daughter hooked. My parents were out, re-modeling our bathroom and for Thanksgiving, and she and Rachel spent most days just knitting together. Well, now mom has gone back home, and that leaves ME to help my daughter with her various questions and stuff, so I figured that I should brush up on my skills as well, so I knitted this hat for Rach's webkinz. Thanks mom for introducing Rach to such a wonderful hobby.... I'm sure you'll be hearing from me.......

Hi!

Hi! This will be a short post. Thanks to everyone who keeps dropping by to see if I have anything up or not. I have started a new full time job. I work for home (so, YEAH!1 I can still home school!!). I am now the Creative Director for Attorneys Online, Inc. They do online marketing (website, Google, Yahoo, Blogging, newsletters, etc.) for law firms all over the United States. I have enjoyed it so far, although it has taken some getting used to. I have been used to pretty much having my time un-ordered. I am blessed, in the fact, that I get to work in my pjs if I choose to. But, I have also found that I was very spoiled, and it has taken a bit to get used to working everyday, all day (8-5).

Once I get my equilibrium back, I hope to get back to designing again. Keep checking, cause I guess you never know when there just may be a surprise pop on here!!

I hope all finds you well, and that you are scrappin like crazy!!

Spring Fling Freebie

Hey, I'm back, even if for a bit. The semester is almost over, and I'm ready for a break. I really am enjoying the spring colors here, so I thought I'd put some into a freebie. I don't feel it's my best work ever, but it was good to get the juices flowing again! Enjoy it, and feel free to use it for whatever, please just don't sell the single items as your own. Click here for the download. (Some of the texture for the page came from Vicki Stegall's commercial use kits... Thanks!!)

Digital Scrapbooking

There have been a few people asking, "Exactly HOW do you do digital scrapbooking?" I think after you have done it for awhile, you forget those initial feelings of, "how in the world do you get all this stuff onto a single page? HELP!!" I hope in this post to be of some help, and clear up some questions. To get started with ds (digital sbing) you will need to first have some kind of photo editing software. There are so many out there, but these are some that I have used personally. The easiest of these programs to use, are simple drag and drop software. These include (but certainly NOT limited to): Memory Mixer and LumaPix FotoFusion. These are two programs I have used, and have found that they are extremely user friendly (ie: great for those just starting!) They come w/ some free papers and embellishments too. In these programs you just drag and drop the pictures, papers or elements that you want to use into the canvas and arrage them. There is a little photo editing that can be done (cropping, ligntness/darkness, simple things like that) but these ARE NOT Photoshop. You aren't able to design or alter drastically the photos and what not. If you are just needing a great digi scrappin program, and aren't interested in having advanced tools for photo editing or creating/altering the things you download, I would go with a program like one of these. If, like me, you are interested in more advanced digital scrapbooking, photo editing or creating your own elements, my recommendation would be to invest in a program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Elements is a little more user friendly than the full blown photoshop, but does limit you in some areas (drop shadow is the biggest that comes to mind right now). I personally use Photoshop 7 and PS CS3. These allow you the greatest freedom in designing and digital scrapbooking, but also have a fairly large learning curve. Lots of scrappers I know, have started in Photoshop Elements and then moved to Photoshop once becoming comfortable with Elements. That can be a good way to do it. As far as HOW do you create a page after you get your program of choice, there are some excellent tutorials out there. The best thing you could do is Google: "digital scrapbooking basics" or something like that, and just check out the links that come up. Some of my favorites (and this by no means is an exhaustive list) are: Scrapgirls, Scrapper's Guide, Digital Scrapbook Place, and Scrapbook-Bytes. All of these wonderful sites have tons of "getting started" tutorials and also more advanced lessons, to challenge you every step of the way, as you perfect your digi scrappin talent.
I hope that this helps a little. I promise, I was there once! I looked at digital scrapbook pages, and couldn't comprehend HOW it was done. But after some digging, some practice and not giving up, it really becomes second nature. Good Luck and
Happy Scrappin!
